I have found myself to constantly be stuck with my face in my phone doom scrolling hour after hour! I don’t even find it enjoyable anymore.
So why do I do it?
Because it’s easy and brings instant dopamine (which never lasts for long). Doom scrolling has become more of a habit to me, like I get bored so I go on TikTok and just scroll. I don’t even watch the videos fully, I just swipe until something catches my eye.
I want to change this!
I want to introduce you to my DIY personal curriculum. What is a DIY personal curriculum, you may ask? Well, it’s different for everyone but the main idea of it is for you to learn about the things you want to. Imagine a school curriculum; you have Math, English, Science, maybe history? Replace that with things that you as an adult want to do and learn. For me, I am doing some courses with Centre of Excellence. 3 courses, actually (Life coaching, blogging business and dopamine detox).
It is also about (for me) bringing more creativity into my life again. Building blocks, diamond arts, coloring, and so much more! I want to get back into my creative brain and do cozy hobbies because I enjoy it so much.
I have a few ‘to do’s’ for April, some weekly ones and also some general ones dotted throughout the month. I am starting The Artist Way by Julia Cameron, very excited for it. I will (try to) commit to the weekly artist dates and daily morning pages, as well as answering the questions and doing the weekly reading. For other to do’s, I want to meet up with friends, there is a volunteer meet up I want to go to and I am starting to see a 1 to 1 support worker who is going to help get me out more!
What are your April goals/to do’s?
Are there any ways that you’re bringing creativity into your life?
Thanks for reading!
