Why I volunteer for my local Mind UK charity

Hi, my name is MJ and I am a volunteer for Conwy Mind. You may see my face quite a lot on the official tiktok page.

I have been doing things with Conwy Mind for a few years now, but I’ve only been a volunteer officially since December 2025.

When I was 13, I had a really bad downspiral with my mental health. I was really struggling, became home schooled and eventually moved to a non mainstream school for neurodivergent teens. When I was 16, I attempted college only to drop out 3 months later and never return due to bad health.

Now, I am unable to do education or work full-time due to my health, which is one of the reasons why I volunteer when I am able to.

I love spreading awareness and helping people find happiness. It is never easy, and I will always admit that my mental health is not good. I can spend a lot of my time sitting on the sofa doom scrolling. You see so many people online showing such happy and aesthetic lives and you know what, great for them, but people also need to see the unaesthetic lives of people who are struggling.

It’s okay to not be happy all the time, in fact, I don’t think anyone is! Emotions are a very complex thing and can be hard to understand.

I volunteer with Conwy Mind to help people feel seen and heard, to share their stories and to hopefully brighten someone’s day.

You can find the website for Conwy mind here along with my story:

I’m MJ Bryn

Welcome to MJ’s Cozy corner of the internet. I am training to become a life mentor as I want to help others achieve their goals and work on their ideas. For now, I will use this website as a free resource for others. Everyone deserves affordable MH help. If you like what you see, I’d love for you to leave a donation over on my ko-fi but there is absolutely no need to.
